SECURE PURCHASE

Your personal data is protected thanks to the SSL security system, which allows you to make a secure purchase on our website. Here are some tips to give you more confidence when making an online purchase:

1. Overcome the fear of e-commerce.

It’s not a technical tip, but it’s still essential. If this is your first time buying online and you haven’t done it before because you’re unsure, try to overcome your fear of the internet. If you do it right (and we’ll show you how), you’ll make a perfect and completely secure purchase.

2. Browse from a secure connection.

First things first: where are you browsing from? From home? From a public Wi-Fi? If you’re going to enter payment information, it’s best to browse from a closed network or one shared with trusted people, such as home and work (depending on where you work). Try to avoid public Wi-Fi and open connections in bars. It’s unlikely that the card thief is sitting at the table next to you, but it’s not impossible. There’s no place like home.

*If the possibility of returning the product doesn’t exist, it’s not advisable to buy

3. Don’t click email offers.

If you’re moderately careless with your email, it’s likely that your inbox is filled with spam every day. Many of the messages you receive will have enticing offers from various websites, but be cautious: you might think you’re clicking on a direct link to an online store, but the email may take you to another (and not necessarily secure) site. If you see an offer in an email, open a new tab and go directly to the website.

*When in doubt, use common sense.

4. Research the site you’re buying from.

If you’re not used to buying online, you may not be familiar with many websites, but surely you recognize the name of some. Make an effort and, once again, use common sense. If the website seems suspicious, perhaps a Google search (“Is it safe to buy from X website?”) will help you.

5. Check the possibility of returns.

You may think it’s trivial, but this criterion will be very helpful. When you see a product, check if there is a possibility of returning it in case it doesn’t meet your expectations or you change your mind upon receiving it. If the notice is not next to the product, there may be a section called “Shopping Experience” or something similar at the end of the page. If there’s a possibility, that’s a sign of trust. Otherwise, it’s not advisable to buy.

6. Pay attention to the delivery date.

This is not a tip for buying safely, but rather to ensure you won’t disappoint the recipient of your gift. Keep in mind that during these dates, many more people shop online, so you should make sure the package will arrive on time. Don’t worry; during these dates, all major websites display the delivery time next to the price.

*Beware of surprisingly low prices: if something seems too good to be true, it probably isn’t.

7. Browse securely.

This has nothing to do with Wi-Fi, although it may seem like it. Once you have selected the product you want to buy and registered, you will proceed to make the payment. Pay attention to the address bar at the top of your browser, where the web address is displayed. If the address starts with “https,” it means you are on a private and therefore secure connection. If it only starts with “http,” your connection is not private. And if it’s not private, it’s not a good place to enter your payment information.

8. Payment methods.

If you’ve never bought online before, you might prefer to pay cash on delivery when it comes to payment. However, don’t dismiss online methods as long as you see that they are secure. The most common option is to pay with your credit card, but you can also explore other secure options like PayPal and Trustly.

9. Get a virtual card.

If you want to pay by card but are reluctant to enter your details due to security concerns, don’t worry. It’s likely that your bank offers you the option to create virtual cards for a specific amount (exactly the money you want to spend) and with a specific expiration date (the day you plan to make the purchase). This is a good way to pay without exposing your data, although you may need some computer skills if you’ve never shopped online before.

We recommend PayPal because it is the fastest and safest way to make purchases online today. We trust and recommend it because it automatically encrypts confidential information during transit from your computer to ours using the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol with a 128-bit encryption key (the highest level commercially available).
